SKPL — Fit People, Hit Nation

Fit people. Hit nation.

Sanmukh Khelmantra (SKPL) is building the network that sport in Gujarat needs — coaches, referees, physiotherapists and yoga experts, connected to the schools, colleges and clubs looking for them.

What Sanmukh Khelmantra (SKPL) does

Sport runs on people. Someone has to coach the team, referee the match, keep the score, treat the injury and look after the ground. Those people exist in every taluka in Gujarat. They are just hard to find when you need them.

We are putting them on one list. Register once as an Associate, at no cost, and say what you do and where you can work. When a school, college, club or association needs that skill, we connect you.

The aim is straightforward: respectable work and fair pay for people in sport, and easier access to qualified people for the institutions that need them.

Who this is for

Four groups, one network. Wherever you sit in it, joining costs nothing.

  • Coaches and trainers

Coaches, physical trainers, physiotherapists and yoga experts looking for assignments that fit around the work you already do.

  • Referees and officials

Referees, umpires, judges, scorers and technical officials, for competitions from village level up to international.

  • Players

Players who want the right sport, proper guidance, and a path that does not depend on knowing the right person.

  • Schools and organisations

Schools, colleges, universities, clubs, societies and workplaces that need qualified people for a match, a season or a programme.

Fit People, Hit Nation

Fitness is not only about sport. It is about how well people live, work and grow older. That idea sits behind the country's Fit India movement, and it sits behind us too.

So the work goes wider than competition. Health and fitness checks. Yoga therapy grouped by age and need. Nutrition guidance. Activities for children and for older people. Talent search for players who show promise. Grounds and gyms kept in usable shape.

Traditional games

Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Gilli Danda, Lagori, Malkhamb and Langdi need little equipment and almost no infrastructure. They are also demanding sports in their own right. We coach them, staff them and put them back on school calendars.

  • Kabaddi

    Breath, timing and nerve

Two teams, one raider, no ball. The raider crosses into the other half, tries to touch defenders, and has to get back without being held. It rewards timing and quick decisions more than equipment. Kabaddi is played across Gujarat, from village grounds up to national competition.

  • Kho-Kho

    Chase, dodge, relay

A chasing game played nine-a-side. Runners weave through a line of seated chasers who tag each other in, one after another. It builds speed, agility and the habit of reading a game a step ahead. Schools take to it quickly because it needs little more than a marked field.

  • Gilli Danda

    Two sticks, open ground

A striking game played with a short wooden peg and a longer stick. Players flick the peg into the air and hit it as far as they can. It needs almost nothing to set up, which is why it has stayed alive on streets and open fields for generations.

  • Lagori

    Seven stones, one throw

Also called Pittu. One team knocks over a stack of seven flat stones with a ball, then races to rebuild it while the other team tries to hit them out. Throwing, dodging and teamwork all matter, and a game can start wherever there are stones and a ball.

  • Malkhamb

    Strength on a pole

A gymnastic discipline performed on a fixed wooden pole or a hanging rope. Athletes hold poses and move between them using grip strength, balance and full-body control. It takes patient coaching, and it is one of the clearest demonstrations of what conditioning can do.

  • Langdi

    One leg, full speed

A chasing game played hopping on one leg. The chaser has to tag opponents without putting the second foot down. Rounds are short and intense, and it asks a lot of balance and stamina. It is a common school sport in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
